Biotop ist der Fachausdruck für einen bestimmten Lebensraum in einem Gebiet, wo das natürliche Gleichgewicht mit den dazugehörigen Tieren, Pflanzen und Mikroorganismen (Biozönose) im Einklang ist und wissenschaftlich gesehen, die kleinste Einheit der Biosphäre darstellt.
Meiner Meinung nach ist dies von grosser Bedeutung, da wir unseren Tieren, egal was für welche, einen artgerechten Lebensraum bieten sollen. Dadurch haben wir die grosse Möglichkeit „unsere Welt“ ein bisschen besser zu machen und diese kostbaren Geschöpfe nicht aus Egoismus zu halten, sei es als Statussymbol, Decor oder Zeitvertrieb, sondern weil wir ihnen einen artgerechten Lebensraum bieten wollen.
